About the Shanti Trust
The Shanti Trust is a small community development project located on the shores of Lake Malawi near the town of Chintheche. The project was started by the mother of it's current leader, Lara Pollard, and runs out of a tourist lodge called Makuzi Beach. Land for the lodge was gifted to Lara's mother by the local community and the lodge provides an important source of local employment. The lodge is run by Lara's husbsand Brett. Reports and documents
Here we publish volunteers and visitors reports of their time with trust. We welcome anyone who's visited us to document their experiences and send them on to us.

Natural resource management

• Report on the results of our community research on attitudes to soil erosion, woodland restoration and fire management. We have submitted this for publication in a scientific journal.
• Poster on soil erosion and woodland management presented at the " Carbon and Communities in Tropical Woodlands" conference held in Edinburgh in June 2008.

Health and nutrition

• Notes and recipes from women's education classes on health and nutrition.
